The grapes for this superb Cabernet Sauvignon come from our 13-acre vineyard surrounding our new winery in St. Helena. Located in a narrow, protected part of the Napa Valley, the geography is the product of river erosion, giving the soil a unique rocky composition ideally situated to growing stellar Cabernet Sauvignon. Named in honor of Mario Trinchero, this jewel of a site is sustainably farmed and produces elegant wine with floral aromas, bright red fruit flavors and a supple, satisfying texture.
“Surrounding the winery, I get to watch this vineyard on a daily basis. The fruit from this benchland area of St. Helena has great structure and finely grained tannins. On the nose, I get lavender and candied rose petal aromas followed by intense blackberry and spice flavors. It is an elegant wine and I hope that if Mario were looking down he would be proud of this vineyard and the resulting wine.” —Mario Monticelli
