Like its namesake, Mary’s Vineyard has a lot of personality. This vineyard located north of Calistoga was the very first purchased by the Trinchero family, and holds significant sentimental value. Named to honor Mario’s wife, Mary’s Vineyard boasts moderately fertile soils, excellent sun exposure and air circulation—ideal to grow Sauvignon Blanc with a vivacious and tropical character.
“North of the town of Calistoga, Mary’s vineyard is a warm place to grow aromatic whites, and I have been pleased at the balance of ripe fruit and acidity in the grapes. Some of the wine is fermented in smaller 75 gallon stainless steel barrels, allowing sur lee aging, creating a richer, creamier mid-palate without any malolactic fermentation. It is unmistakably Sauvignon Blanc, yet boasts warm Napa Valley melon and tropical favors along with the more typical Sauvignon Blanc zesty flavors and refreshing acidity.” —Mario Monticelli
