2014 Haystack Vineyard, Cabernet Sauvignon
September 24 – October 11, 2014
Haystack Vineyard is nestled way up in Atlas Peak, Napa Valley’s highest appellation, perched 1,500 feet above sea level in the Vaca Mountains. This craggy, extremely rocky site stresses the vines, resulting in small, intensely concentrated berries.
This multi-dimensional wine delivers aromas of sweet tobacco, currant and blackberries, with hints of graphite, sage brush and mesquite. The palate is full-bodied, with up-front dark fruit, underscored by mineral notes and flavors of baking spice and cherry cola. Firm tannins give way to a long, velvety finish.
