2017 Vera's Vineyard, Unoaked Chardonnay
September 19- September 29, 2017
Southern Napa, like its neighbor, Carneros, is open to the cooling influence of the San Pablo Bay, so grapes grown here ripen slowly, developing concentrated flavors. Vera’s vineyard, named to honor Vera Trinchero-Torres has a cool micro- climate and chalky soils ideal for producing classic fruit focused Chardonnay.
The 2017 vintage will be talked about for many years to come. As with the previous winter, the end of 2016 brought wet weather to Napa. By the time bud-break neared, some parts of Napa reached over 50” of rain. Winter temperatures were more normal and bud-break came about a week later than the prior year. The Napa Valley experienced another beautiful spring with mild daytime temperatures and dry weather leading into hot temperatures in August which quickened ripening
“The 2017 Vera’s Unoaked Chardonnay appeals with a straw yellow color and inviting aromas of white flowers, honey crisp apple and white peaches. Clean and refreshing, this wine has a medium body, a lively, bright palate and clean, crisp, firm acidity. Vibrant flavors of stone fruit and lemon zest give way to a velvety, oily finish completing on a mineral note.“
