2010 Central Park West Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
September 20 - October 12, 2010
18 months, 100% French oak (75% new)
Our Central Park West Vineyard, named in a nostalgic nod to the New York City origins of the Trinchero family, is located at the southern end of the St. Helena appellation. This 22-acre vineyard is a level site with deep, loamy soils, good sun exposure and excellent air circulation — the ideal situation for producing classic Napa Valley Cabernet.
The 2010 vintage started out with a very cool and wet spring that let into the characteristically dry, though slightly cooler than normal, Napa summer. Usually the Napa Valley goes through several heat spikes and in 2010 these were on the late side without significant heat until the third week of August and then additional heat waves in September and October.
“Even though this wine bears a New York City name, it screams St. Helena. In 2010, we hand-picked this vineyard multiple times over a span of 24 days. With these valley floor origins and warm St. Helena climate, this is an opulent, eminently drinkable and classic St. Helena Cabernet. It boasts a beautiful dark color with rustic aromas of olives, black tea and savory spice. Black cherry and plum flavors, with subtle floral notes, lead into a deep, voluptuous midpalate and a long, soft finish.” - Mario Monticelli
